Karapuzha Dam is a masonry dam located in the Indian state of Kerala. It is built on the Karapuzha River, a tributary of the Kabini River. The dam is situated in the district of Wayanad, near the town of Karapuzha.

The Karapuzha Dam was built in 1979 with the primary objective of providing water for irrigation and drinking purposes. The dam has a height of 28 meters and a length of 625 meters. Its reservoir has a capacity of 18.21 million cubic meters.

Apart from its primary function of water storage, the Karapuzha Dam also serves as a popular tourist destination. The reservoir formed by the dam provides opportunities for boating and fishing. The surrounding areas are also popular for their scenic beauty and wildlife, with the nearby Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary attracting many visitors.

However, in recent years, there have been concerns raised about the safety of the dam due to its age and the increased frequency of extreme weather events in the region. The government has initiated plans to strengthen the dam to ensure its long-term safety and reliability.
